Correct Price Guarantee with Active Oahu

Pricing on the checkout page comes directly from the tour operator, therefore, pricing listed on the website may vary from those in the checkout due to the tour operator changing the prices without notifying us. If you notice any prices are not correct, Contact Us so that we can update that information.

The price at the checkout is always the correct and accurate price and will be the same price you will pay if you were to book direct with that tour operator. We protect you against arriving at a destination and finding the same tour or activity offered at a lower price from our operator.

Discount Codes

We believe you should get the lowest price possible offered by the tour operator. Many tour operators offer online booking discounts and we try to make sure those are posted on our website. We try to keep those updated, but sometimes they expire or change. If you notice any discount codes don’t work or are missing, Contact Us so that we can update that information.

Refund Requests with Active Oahu

Transactions on ActiveOahu.com are made directly with the tour operator you booked with, so you will need to abide by the tour operator’s cancellation policy which is included in the confirmation email you receive after booking a tour. The tour operator’s cancellation policy is also included on the specific activity and company pages on ActiveOahu.com

Most tour operators will gladly refund your purchase if it’s more than 48 hours before your activity start time. If you have trouble getting in contact with the company you booked with, give us a call at (808)498-1894 and we can probably help you out. The tour operator’s contact information is included in the confirmation email.

All refund decisions will be made by the tour operator you book with.

Taxes & Fees

Taxes and fees are included at checkout. Hawaii General Excise Tax is 4.127%. If you are booking online, FareHarbor, the vendor who owns and operates the booking software, charges an online booking fee, normally about 6%.

If you would rather not pay the online convenience fee, call us at (808)498-1894 and we can help you book your activities over the phone.

“Wow! What an incredible experience. We kayaked through the rainforest in the pouring rain and wouldn’t have changed anything about it. There was a group of 8 of us and it was so nice to have our own private kayak tour. It was so lush and green and something each of us will remember forever.”

“We booked to do snorkeling and yoga with Active Oahu. Becca was our guide for the day and was absolutely fantastic. She tailored the yoga class so it focused on prenatal yoga for me, but also managed to be relevant for my husband. The location for both this and snorkeling was beautiful and we could not have had a better time!”

Activity Overview

On this local-style self-guided Oahu kayak adventure, you’ll experience the thrill of kayaking on the ocean, a hike on Mokoli’i, and get a great view of the Kualoa Ranch (aka Jurrasic Park), Ko’olau Mountain Range and Kaneohe bay on the east side of Oahu.

You will initially meet in Kailua at the Active Oahu Tours storefront. You will be kayaking right from Kualoa Regional Park. The exact meeting location is 134B Hamakua Dr. Kailua HI, 96734. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the reservation time.

Active Oahu Tours will be in communication with you via email, phone call or text.

You will be required to sign a liability waiver. If you’d like, you can print it and have your party sign it beforehand: Liability Waiver or sign it online from the link in the confirmation email

The team will be at the meeting location to help you set up the kayaks, loading them onto your 4 door vehicle, and from there you’ll get some helpful tips, a safety demo, a description of the route. It is a 30 minute drive to Kualoa Regional Park and then you can head out into the ocean for your kayaking trip.

The water along the shoreline of the east side of Oahu is clear and surprisingly shallow, so you’ll be able to see that turquoise blue hue that Hawaii is known for. Normally there are small rolling waves or no waves at all due to the barrier reef of Kaneohe bay about a mile offshore and a shallow reef that extends for a good 100 feet or so from the shore. This makes it easy to launch your kayaks and not have to battle large waves to get out to Mokoli’i.

You land on the west side of the island in a nice little rocky inlet. Be sure to have your shoes ready because you’ll be setting off to explore the island next. There are two options for the hike:

One is to follow the trail that goes around the circumference of the island, which is rather easy but has plenty of rocks, so be sure you have shoes. You’ll arrive at a small sandy nook on the east side of the island for some great photo ops.

The other is to hike straight up the island on a dirt and rock trail. You’ll be using your hands and feet to get up a lot of the inclines and this is not for those who fear heights. You don’t have to go all the way to the top, but the view gets better the higher you go. Near the top, there’s one last 10 ft bouldering section to get panoramic views of the Kaneohe Bay area and much of the east coast of Oahu.

All along the way, check-in with your party and yourself to make sure you are staying within your comfort zone. Stay safe, don’t push your risk limits too far.

The best time to do this ocean kayak and hike experience is in the morning. If you are an early riser, we may have openings before our regular 9 am tour start time depending on driver availability, so feel free to make a note in your reservation. On perfect days, the ocean is completely flat like glass and you can see the coral and fish below you while you are kayaking.

Conditions can change quickly. If there are storms or high winds we will notify you as soon as we know and can re-locate your adventure to the Rainforest kayak self-guided tour over in Kahana Valley, another of the great Oahu kayak routes. There, you’d be on a sheltered river the same day or move the tour to a different day.
