Pricing on the checkout page comes directly from the tour operator, therefore, pricing listed on the website may vary from those in the checkout due to the tour operator changing the prices without notifying us. If you notice any prices are not correct, Contact Us so that we can update that information.
The price at the checkout is always the correct and accurate price and will be the same price you will pay if you were to book direct with that tour operator. We protect you against arriving at a destination and finding the same tour or activity offered at a lower price from our operator.
We believe you should get the lowest price possible offered by the tour operator. Many tour operators offer online booking discounts and we try to make sure those are posted on our website. We try to keep those updated, but sometimes they expire or change. If you notice any discount codes don’t work or are missing, Contact Us so that we can update that information.
Transactions on ActiveOahu.com are made directly with the tour operator you booked with, so you will need to abide by the tour operator’s cancellation policy which is included in the confirmation email you receive after booking a tour. The tour operator’s cancellation policy is also included on the specific activity and company pages on ActiveOahu.com
Most tour operators will gladly refund your purchase if it’s more than 48 hours before your activity start time. If you have trouble getting in contact with the company you booked with, give us a call at (808)498-1894 and we can probably help you out. The tour operator’s contact information is included in the confirmation email.
All refund decisions will be made by the tour operator you book with.
Taxes and fees are included at checkout. Hawaii General Excise Tax is 4.127%. If you are booking online, FareHarbor, the vendor who owns and operates the booking software, charges an online booking fee, normally about 6%.
If you would rather not pay the online convenience fee, call us at (808)498-1894 and we can help you book your activities over the phone.
“We were looking for a non-tourist bus experience, wanted to explore and be guided for a fun day. It was fantastic”…“Would highly recommend for teenage families, outdoorsy mature couples and anyone with a sense of adventure.”
“Wow! What an incredible experience. We kayaked through the rainforest in the pouring rain and wouldn’t have changed anything about it. There was a group of 8 of us and it was so nice to have our own private kayak tour. It was so lush and green and something each of us will remember forever.”
“We booked to do snorkeling and yoga with Active Oahu. Becca was our guide for the day and was absolutely fantastic. She tailored the yoga class so it focused on prenatal yoga for me, but also managed to be relevant for my husband. The location for both this and snorkeling was beautiful and we could not have had a better time!”
On this local-style Oahu kayak tour, you’ll experience the adventure of kayaking on the ocean, a hike on Mokoli’i and get a great view of the Ko’olau Mountain Range and Kaneohe bay on the east side of Oahu.
The guide will meet you at the tour location near Kualoa Regional Park. The exact meeting location will be provided in the confirmation and reminder emails. Expect the guide to arrive at or a little before the tour reservation time.
Our guides often use their personal vehicles for tours, so expect a call or text when the guide arrives at the tour location.
You will be required to sign a liability waiver. If you’d like, you can print it and have your party sign it beforehand: Liability Waiver
After the guide sets up the kayaks, you’ll get a quick kayaking lesson, safety demo, description of the route and be helped into your kayaks.
The water is clear and surprisingly shallow, so you’ll be able to see that turquoise blue hue that Hawaii is known for. Normally there are small rolling waves or no waves at all due to the reef that extends for a good 100 feet or so from the shore. This makes it easy to launch your kayaks and not have to battle large waves to get out to Mokoli’i.
You land on the west side of the island in a nice little rocky inlet. Be sure to have your shoes ready because you’ll be setting off to explore the island next. There are two options for the hike:
One is to follow the trail that goes around the circumference of the island, which is rather easy, but has plenty of rocks, so be sure you have shoes. You’ll arrive at a small sandy nook on the east side of the island for some great photo ops.
The other is to hiking straight up the island on a dirt and rock trail. You’ll be using your hands and feet to get up a lot of the inclines and this is not for those who fear heights. You don’t have to go all the way to the top, but the view gets better the higher you go. Near the top, there’s one last 10 ft bouldering section to get panoramic views of Kaneohe bay area and much of the east coast of Oahu.
All along the way, the guide will help ensure your safety, give you some more info about the area and share some local tips for your trip.
The best time to do this tour is in the morning. If you are an early riser, we may have openings before our regular 9am tour start time depending on guide availability, so feel free to give us a call. On perfect days, the ocean is completely flat like glass and you can see the coral and fish below you while you are kayaking.
Conditions can change quickly. If there are storms or high winds we will notify you as soon as we know and can re-schedule the tour to our Rainforest kayak Tour, another of the great Oahu kayak tours. There, you’d be on a sheltered river the same day or move the tour to a different day.
You are booking directly with Chinaman’s Hat Kayak Tour. The operator's cancellation policy is shown at the checkout screen and on all email communications. View General Cancellation Policy ›
Please send tour cancellation requests or rescheduling requests directly to the operator you booked with. The cancellation policy for each company is included in the checkout process adjacent to the payment info and is also included in confirmation and reminder emails.

If you need specific instructions on how exactly that process works, check out our guide on How to Cancel or Request a Refund ›
